Brad's Devlog

Week One - Day 1 For this game we wanted to try and create a platformer game. So we thought having a different perspective and mechanic to intrigue the target audience would work in our favor. A few hours later we came up with the idea of having the perspective of a spider jumping on upside down mushrooms as we’ve never seen something like this and we thought that we could play with the environment quite a bit.

Week One - Day 2 I started making multiple mushroom caps and stalks in Maya to mix and match between each other.

Week One - Day 4 The next thing I modelled was the tree stump and branches that all the mushrooms would be hanging off of.

Week One - Day 5 Once all the models were done I started putting them in and had to test a lot to see if the player could jump to it comfortably but increasingly difficult as they progressed.

Week Two - Day 1 - 2 I decided to finish off the textures before we’d have people play test from outside our team. To start off with texturing I created some patterns in Substance Designer to use for the mushrooms. I textured the mushrooms, tree stump and branches using Substance Painter.

Week Two - Day 3 I carried on doing the level designing as I was halfway through.

Week Two - Day 4 We had lots of play testers come in and by watching them play they struggled at the start more than I thought they would so I had to go through balancing the platforms.

Week Two - Day 5At the end of the week me and Kelvin tried recording music for the game but most of it was unusable due to background noise and no more time to re-record. But we still implemented what we had recorded.

Week Two - Day 6 - 7 I continued with balancing the map by adjusting the platforms distance between each other then uploaded the game on the last day.
